Mission Work

Mission

The Mission Committee coordinates the mission activities of the congregation as the congregation strives to be faithful to the teachings of Jesus as he said “Feed my sheep, Feed my sheep”  and he healed and provided care for those in need.

The Mission Committee coordinates and educates the congregation regarding the four major offerings authorized by the Presbyterian Church USA.

They are:             One Great Hour of Sharing

                                Peace

                                Joy

                                Pentecost

Other activities coordinated by the committee include:

Gathering of food for the needy

Compassion  ( Adoption of a needy child in India) in conjunction with the Christian Education Committee

Church World Service -  Blankets Sunday around Mother’s Day, Tool Sunday around Father’s Day, and greeting cards.  In addition, as part of the Summer Fling program we also prepare and donate School Kits.

Monthly Protestant Worship Service at the East Rockaway Progressive Care Nursing Home in conjunction with the Deacons

Special projects such as collecting items for the Domestic Violence Shelter on Long Island, collecting tooth brushes and tooth paste for poor youngsters with poor dental hygiene, providing comfort blankets and busy bags for the local hospitals.

Special offerings for both Church World Service and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in response to natural disasters.

The Women’s Circle also engages in mission efforts.
